Junior Project Manager

Position Description

​JPI is looking for a Junior Project Manager with a minimum of three years of management consulting experience and direct project management experience.  The successful applicant will provide full-time remote support to a Federal Program Management Office (PMO) from our company headquarters located in Blacksburg, VA.


  • Translate requirements into reporting solutions including designing, developing, documenting and deploying custom reports, and data exports
  • Analyzing current report usage, optimizing options for information delivery, and identifying opportunities for consolidation and elimination of reports
  • Development and maintenance of integrated master schedules / project plans
  • Use of project management information systems to support ongoing project management efforts
  • Leading and facilitating client meetings and exercises
  • Capturing meeting minutes and action items
  • Creating project status briefings and reports
  • Identifying strategies for automating and implementing efficient work management processes
  • Mapping complex business processes and communicating processes solutions to the client
  • Development of communication plans, strategies, and documentation
  • Developing project artifacts including charters, agendas, minutes, and correspondence
  • Additional activities include participating in program management working sessions and supporting program managers in executing day-to-day project management activities 


  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems or a related field
  • Exposure to ITIL, SDLC, and/or SELC;                      
  • Management consulting experience required, with at least three years in project management
  • Understanding of developing project management methodologies (processes, best practices, tools, and templates)                
  • Hands-on experience with MS Project 2010, MS Project Server 2010, and MS Project Web Access
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills                              
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work effectively independently and in team settings to include close collaboration with program managers
  • Proven ability to support multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven process
  • Experience in building and managing client relationships
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Visio

Additional Qualifications (nice-to-have):

  • DHS HQ experience is a plus
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Experience with Confluence / Atlassian Suite is a plus
  • Experience with Cloud Hosting/Cloud Project Management a plus
